There appears to be trouble in Crystal Castles when lead singer Alice Glass has accused her former bandmate Ethan Kath (whose real name is Claudio Palmieri) of assault and rape. This sheds light on her exit from the highly-acclaimed electronic music band.
According to Music Feed, Glass explained what appears to be years’ worth of alleged accounts of abuse ever since they had known each other in 10th grade. Glass added it was through the courage of other women who opened up that inspired her to open up about her issue as well.
This can be a reference to the recent “metoo” campaign in social media that allowed women to speak up about sexual assault.
She recounted her “first” time being taken advantage of by Palmieri when she was just 15, and Palmieri was 25. Glass added that Palmieri “went to great lengths” just to find her, including accounts of stalking and driving around her campus.
She added Palmieri was “manipulative,” and that not all sexual encounters between the two were in fact consensual.
Palmieri Response, Crystal Castles Exit
Prior to the allegations, Glass has in fact left the band in 2014. Her reasons back then were however not immediately specified. Meanwhile, Palmieri told Pitchfork that he was “outraged.”
“Her story is pure fiction and I am consulting my lawyers as to my legal options. Fortunately, there are many witnesses who can and will confirm that I was never abusive to Alice,” he said.
As of reporting, Crystal Castles is now composed of Palmieri and the singer Edith Frances. The two have already toured to meet Aussie fans in 2017. Palmieri also told Music Feeds that they are already preparing songs for the band’s upcoming album release, “Amnesty (II).”
