Frank Zappa appears to be the latest in musical icons to have an upgrade in world tours. This time, it seems Zappa will see the world in a new tour as a hologram.
This surprising news courtesy of the Zappa Family Trust. It appears they teamed up with Eyellusion, a production company, to spearhead the project. Fans can see Zeppa with his previous bandmates, which includes Adrian Belew, Arthur Barrow, Steve Vai, and Ian Underwood.
Ahmet Zappa, a co-trustee from the Family Trust, the aforementioned said they were excited on the prospect to perform with Zappa once more, even if he’s a hologram. It can be remembered that Zappa passed away more than 10 years ago because of cancer.
Diva Zappa, another co-Trustee, said the elder Zappa has helped the industry transcend as an art form. The holographic performance will help younger generations get introduced to Frank Zappa’s music.
There are no specific details on the event itself, but it seems Zappa fans can get more news on the world tour sometime in 2018. Interestingly, it appears there will be unreleased and rare material to be shown to the public for the first time.
Zappa will follow an ongoing trend of performers who saw fans from beyond the grave, performing as holograms. These include Biggie Smalls, Whitney Houston, Tupac, and Michael Jackson.
