Fans of Clive Davis who didn’t catch his documentary ‘Clive Davis The Soundtrack of Our Lives’ premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival won’t have to wait for much longer. His documentary will have an Apple Music exclusive debut this Oct. 3. It will also have a limited release in theatres beginning Sept. 27.
The Chris Perkel film will visit the life of Davis in outstanding detail. The film depicts Davis in his prime, where he was still an attorney hired by Columbia Records.
Columbia Records them was a client of the firm Davis worked for, and after that, examined his journey towards becoming the president of the label in 1967.
Perhaps most interesting is his journey after the Monterey Pop Festival, which skyrocketed Davis’ vision of the upcoming evolution of the rock genre, and his professional relationship with Janis Joplin.
Fast forward some fifty years later, and Davis remains strong with two labels he actually founded. He’s celebrating a life of influencing careers of artists with or without his labels J and Artista. Davis is also currently the chief craetive officer for one of the music gians of today, Sony Music.
Davis has had a hand in the growth of Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Patti Smith, Barry Maniloaw, Aretha Franklin, Sly and the Family Stone, The Kinks, Dionne Warwick, Lou Reed, and Carly Simon.
