Green Day fans in Australia will be delighted to hear that they can finally get a chance to watch the “American Idiot” musical, courtesy of the famous group themselves.

The “American Idiot” musical is set to have its Australian run around the country next year, in 2018. Fans can remember that the Broadway performance has been launched in Brisbane just this year. It had fantastic reception, and now everyone else will be able to see it as well.

There were dates that have been announced in Melbourne, Adelaide, Syndey, Brisbane, and Perth for early 2018. This means fans from Brisbane will be able to see it another time. Meanwhile, as per Music Feeds, the aforementioned cities will be able to see the legendary musical for the very first time.

Green Day and American Idiot

It can be remembered that Green Day was formed in 1986 by Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt. John Kiffmeyer in the drums originally helped form the core trio, with Armstrong as guitarist and vocalist, and Dirnt with the bass. However, Kiffmeyer was eventually replaced by Tre Cool in 1990. Jason White was added into the mix as an official member of the band from 2012 up to 2016.

Green Day has started as part of the “punk scene” in California’s DIY 924 Gilman Street club. They originally started by releasing tracks under Lookout! Records, an independent label. Their major label debut Dookie had skyrocketed Green Day into success. Their newer albums, Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning, weren’t as successful but they were highly noted by fans.

Phil Jamieson from Grinspoon will once again take on the lead of St. Jimmy when the show has debuted in the aforementioned Brisbane. Meanwhile, Phoebe Panaretos will be playing Whatsermane, to which the performer has received a Helpmann nomination.

The musical will begin its run in the Sydney Opera House early in 2018.
